Commercial rebate guidelines:

  • A business energy walkthrough site visit is required before rebates are awarded. Sign up for a site visit.
  • Your project may require a permit. It is your responsibility to consult your local building department before moving forward with any project.
  • Rebates are intended to support the upgrade of existing equipment. Our rebates are not available for new construction, with the exception of renewable energy rebates.
  • Provide an electronic version of your invoices and receipts to upload as part of this application.
  • Receipts/invoices must be for projects completed no more than 90 days (3 months) prior to the date the rebate application is submitted.
  • Multiple rebates may be applied for within one application.
  • Not all rebates are available in all communities.

Businesses that install heat pump systems to replace electric space heating or convert from natural gas or propane are eligible for a rebate.

  • Must be rated for cold climates and provide heat down to 5oF or lower
    • Recommend investing in hyper heat (Mistubishi), low ambient or extra low temperature heat pumps that heat to -13oF or lower
  • Ducted: HSPF 9+; Ductless: HSPF 10+
  • Compressor must be variable capacity (three or more distinct operating speeds, or continuously variable)
  • Load calculation required to right size outside unit and derate for high elevation
  • Must be used as primary heat source in the business

  • LED lamps must be Energy Star, Lighting Facts, or Design Lights Qualified
  • Rebates are offered for new equipment only
  • Rebate requests must be received within 180 days of the invoice date 
  • Itemized invoices showing manufacturer and model number of all equipment is required
  • All projects are subject to applicable regulations and permitting
  • Energy Smart Rebates are calculated after all other available incentives have been deducted (Total rebate (ESP + Utilities) not to exceed 50% or project cost.)
